This is an exact reproduction of an old sugar bowl used to hold the sugar cubes in the preparation of a traditional French or Swiss absinthe. Sugar holders were used at a bar or bistro to hold sugar cubes used in the ritual to sweeten the taste of the bitter absinthe. Tastes for an individual sometimes varies from 1 to as many as 3 cubes. This sugar holder is an exact reproduction of a late 19th century sugar holder.
