The Quararibea turbinata, also known as the Swizzlestick Tree, is an aromatic plant native to the Caribbean. This tree has slim branches which end in multiple "fingers." These fingers are trimmed to create a swizzle stick.
Swizzle sticks are used to mix, aerate and chill a drink made with crushed ice. Typically, the ingredients of a cocktail are added to a glass, then the crushed ice. Next, the swizzle stick is inserted into the glass and held between the palms. As the swizzle stick is rotated and moved vertically through the glass, the drink becomes blended.
